What has changed

  • The route of the 42 km race has changed (only passes through Porto and Matosinhos)
  • Family Race distance has changed – 10 km
  • The finish location has changed to Av. do Parque
  • Marathon, Family Race and Fun Race Start Time: 9:00 am

Why has changed

  • This month, the lower deck of the Luís I bridge went into construction and the intervention will last a few months. For this reason, it will not be possible to cross to the Vila Nova de Gaia side, as the Luís I Bridge is the only one that allows crossing the level of the race course.
  • The Covid-19 Vaccination and Testing Center is currently located in the place where the event's arrival is usually located (the Queimódromo), making it impossible to occupy it with the structure of the arrival of the races. The new finishing point for the three races, the EDP Porto Marathon, the APO Family Race Corrida dos Ossos Saudáveis and the EDP Fun Race will be at Avenida do Parque, next to the Parque da Cidade do Porto (return to the old Marathon finishing site until the 2014 edition).

What is needed to participate?

  • Covid-19 Digital Certificate – valid on the date of the event
  • If not certified, participants can submit a PCR test within 72 hours or an antigen test within 48 hours prior to the date and time of the event.
  • The use of a mask is mandatory during departure and shortly after arrival. The masks may, under individual responsibility, be removed when there is physical distance between the participants, but never within the first 200 meters. Right after the goal line, a new mask will be provided by the organization for each participant.

Where do we improve on security?

  • The entire organization of the event will have to present a Covid-19 Digital Certificate or be tested.
  • In supplies during the course (5k, 10k, 15k, 20k, 25k, 30k, 35k, 40k) the runners will find unopened scattered packages on the various tables of the organization. Each participant can pick up a package avoiding contact with staff members.
  • At the finish line, the final supply will be available at the tables in the finish area. Each participant can pick up a bag and continue to the exit.
  • The match will be made by groups in order to improve the spacing between the athletes.
  • We will build the biggest starting zone ever so that all athletes have space and tranquility to run the race safely.

Very important

All athletes who, in the previous 14 days of the EDP Porto Marathon, present one or more symptoms suggestive of COVID-19 (fever, cough, respiratory distress), present a positive test, or have been in contact with a suspected or confirmed case of COVID- 19, must inform the organization and must not attend the event.

Athletes should regularly sanitize their hands using the alcohol gel dispensers and dispensers placed in the main areas of the event.

All athletes must comply with the standards of respiratory etiquette and social distancing, avoiding crowding, complying with signs and visual indications and respecting the guidelines of the organization's elements (ex.: circulation in the competition areas, speaker information).
